    Long range shooting or shooters

    Hi all
I have been a hunter most of my life but last couple years have become quite keen on the longer range hunting and shooting. My longer range so far is 500-600mtrs but am very keen to go a lot further and learn as much as I can. Just wondering if there are any like minded or experienced people in the Dunedin area? Also if there are any ranges or clubs in our area.
    Thanks guys

I'd say check out the open days at sparrow hawk, you will meet a lot of keen longer range shooters there and heaps of opportunities to practice

I'm in Dunedin and I'm like minded @Curtis27 I don't know of anything set up but have been scoping places where I might be able to set up some longer range gongs. Bit of a mission to find a spot that is wind-protected, safe, with friendly farmer and not too difficult access.

    Interesting thread.
LR & ELR ranges aren't all that common.
Trentham (to 1000yds - and very FORMAL), Cheltenham (to 600yds - with a sight in 100yds range. Haven't been there YET), are the closest to me.
When I was a cadet kiddie and TF soldier - Ardmore, Whangaparoa Army camp were my nearest ranges (ex-Jaffa).
Nearer is the WPSSC (not taking any members/associates currently) and Deerstalker's ranges.
Believe the old Taranaki range has been resurrected.
Not aware of any others and tired of the unwanted ads on Google, so haven't done much research.
    S.I. - no idea.

Does not need to be "wind protected" thats 1/2 the fun. Also you can use 22LR out to 300 if space limited, You can learn a lot from doing that.
When I started 300m was a long shot funny how things change
