    Question Marlin 30-30 setup

Hey team I'm waiting on delivery of a short barrel stainless 30-30
Was wondering how everyone else had set theirs up as far what distance zero ?
I will be running a leupold 1.5-4×20 with a duplex reticle.
Will be running either 140gn or 160gn ftx pills at this stage.
I already have a rail and leupold low rings.
    Any other tips or tricks.
Will be buying a hammer spur when shops open up again too.
    Thanks
    Danny

Set it for impacts at 100 yards while developing a load then run it in an app like strelok and work out your MPBR and the zero that corresponds with it. This will depend on what velocity you end up with what projectiles and how big a target window you are happy with.

I expect this to be 150 yards 200 yards max but for the most part 100 yards or less.

From memory I ran mine w a 100m zero. Once you’ve got that, you can set up your table. Easy.

I'm zeroed at 150m with a 16 inch Winchester Model 94, 1-4x20 scope with pig plex reticle.
I also adjust the elevation dial to have a 50m zero with subs.

@dannyb how short of a barrel did you go and what model of Marlin?

Have my 336 Dark 16" zeroed at 100m with a VX6 1-6. It is CDS so I may work up some loads for it for further but really I wouldn't shoot more than 150 - 170m with it I suppose.
@eamars has worked some loads up I think and may be able to provide some useful input.

I didn't get any of the smithing done but it's 16.5" the mag tube also shortened at the same time so only holds 5 rounds, the trigger also appears to have been fettled.
I actually decided against buying one till after lock down but this one fell in to my lap for a great price.....it's a 336 stainless wish it had a big loop.
It's sitting in Hamilton until level 2 anyway so I have plenty of time to think about things.
