@Berosus Yeah the Bergara has been a lot of fun so far, I've had no reliability issues as of today and the trigger is considerably lighter than I was expecting based on what I had read online.

I have a lot more testing to do yet, including suppressor on/off but it's not looking too bad from the early results!

I picked up this on the way home from work today...It was a bit dark when these shot but there wasn't much in the way on wind.

It was a different batch of the Fiocchi 300 that the batch I shot the other day and it doesn't like this lot nearly as much but I guess that rimfire for you!!
On the plus side the Fiocchi 280 and Fiocchi Subs look promising.

The white subs look very promising indeed. How much a box are they?? The are labeled Eley on the target but I assume you mean Fiocchi?

The Fiocchi 300 just proves the adage that any 22 RF is only as good as the last (best) batch of ammo. The numerous interweb posts that "my 22 always shoots MOA with x ammo just proves the poster either doesn't shoot much or cherry picks their groups bigtime!!

The white subs are Fiocchi and they are hollow points, I had Eley in my head when I wrote that because they are made in England and have the Eley style sh!t box.

They were 13.99 for a single box and I think they sell for $120 a brick so certainly not the most expensive ammo about.

I hear what you're saying with the cherry picked groups but I don't think that is just a rimfire thing lol.

@Nick-D I got most of that ammo from shooting stuff a couple ish years ago. They have a good range and are good to deal with but the freight was like $50...The rest was Guncity if you have a local.

I would like to get out to some sort of casual comp or range but I don't know of any local events...
Well,,, have I got a deal for you......

I've been faffing about with my 10/22 and found that my nice tight 50m groups aren't helping at all out past 100m. I need to be clipping a bunch of hares and bunnies on a friends property (that i may or may not have neglected all year). Hoping to make shots out to 120m? or is that me dreaming?

What ammo is likely to have a better bc, 1/2" at 50m and be available in Auckland? I was thinking that SK magazine stuff might be a step up from cci but i think from looking at your results it may be similar. Not gonna bother with HP either. They fall out of the air like .177 slugs

Don't have to look far down that list to see a lot of questionable figures. Aguila 40gr BC 0.197 while the 60gr BC is 0.09? Remington Yellow Jacket hyper velocity 33gr HP's with a higher BC than RWS 40gr target ammo? I wouldn't be making any decisions based on that info myself.

I'm yet to do much testing with the 22 but I'm thinking of picking up a cheap 17hmr for bunnies. My shots with high velocity ammo were dropping some 2 feet or so at 120m from the 50m zero I set, and the hp subs weren't even hitting the target board. Maybe dropping 3 feet+.

That's a nice looking 22 and I think you will be very happy with it.
I've spent a bit of time tuning our steel barrelled version. Although the HMR stock is pillared with an alloy chassis, this particular gun is sensitive to action screw torque and runs best between 5.5 & 6.00 NM. This rifle also took a lot of rounds to "settle" and has been steadily improving post 1,000 rounds (Maybe the shooters are learning how to use it!).
Here's an accuracy sample shot recently by my wife - 40X5 shot groups at 50 metres outdoors - Plenty of wind and no flags - These aren't BR guns so we shoot them in real world conditions. I've tried a lot of ammo in this B14R and decent lot numbers of SK Pistol Match Special & Long Range seem to work well.
I have no experience with suppressors but anything that changes barrel harmonics can have a noticeable effect on results down range!

Go tell the wife she's doing well - some v good shooting there. Yes torque on bedding screw very important - commonly the difference between an average and a very accurate hunter 22LR.

Silencers a variable you don't need when you're trying to precisely test a new rifle. Tested a new 22LR model suppressor for manufacturer a while back and it was quite an eye opener to say the least. Groups jumped from normal 0.5-0.6" for a wee hunter 22 to 1.5-2.5" - loose and erratic. Took silencer off and problem gone. Back to gunsmith and it emerged screw thread was engineered very faintly out of alignment with exit hole, and he'd kept exit hole VERY small to minimise noise. Opened up exit hole slightly with drill bit and all fixed...

T Foye - have shot umpteen thousand bunnies, always with high velocity hollow points and never noticed HPs 'falling out of the sky' with unacceptable drop off. But - my 22 hunters are shot in at 75m, and I tend to max bunny shooting at about 110m with 22s. Ruger 10/22 would not be my pick for 100m-125 shooting - 17HMR or WMR do that next step very well. Example - I have a little Marlin 982SV heavy barrel in 22WMR that easily groups sub 1 inch at 100m so no trouble at 125m for bunnies in low wind conditions. Shooting a 10/22 in at 50 leaves a very big holdover at 120 - easy to get that guess wrong - if that is you don't have time to dial.
