hi, does anyone know how to start for processing the MSSA buyback? any form need to complete?
what is the deadline of the buyback schema?

Sell a great headline from "STUFF" stating "over 2000 illegal firearms" have been handed in, do they mean firearms that were purchased legally and have been offered to surrender for buyback.

They might have tried to say "over 2000 legally-purchased and -owned firearms now reclassified as illegal" but stuffed it up.

That would involve the reporter being able to think.......or try.

Theres been no details released about the buybacks yet. Police arent even geared up to take them yet either.
Dont hand anything in yet or even fill out their form. Wait till more is known

The rumor is (heard this from a farmer an hour ago) that guns handed in, in good faith, will not be eligible for compensation, even if you filled in the online form. These are the guns handed in before the announced buy back, even if you entered your bank details. This reflects the email sent out by police where A-cat just need to hand in their "illegal" firearms with no mention of compensation, while E-cat states "to participate in the buy back".

He also said the local engineering firms have been approached to cut up the rifles.

Well if that's the case it will be changing my view of this country / government / police.... I have never had any major issues with how the country has been run but if as a law abiding citizen I get screwed over.... Well maybe it's time to disconnect the Speedo on my diesel and a few other things...

I would suggest this is probably just gossip/speculation. The notion of a buyback was communicated from the very beginning and the option included on the form. It would be legally tenuous at best to refuse reparation.

Nothing to gain from it for the government really when most of the rifles will be cheap crap old rifles anyway and there were what like a few hundred handed in? Pennies in the scheme of things.
