Thread: My Ruger 10/22 LR project

I know this is a bad-ass centrefire forum and nobody will admit they all own a ruger 22 (and experience childish joy destroying tin cans once a year)
BUT, I have finally got hold of one of these and I will freely admit I enjoy the hell out of shooting it, especially at rabbits.

Being that this rifle simply can not be left unmodified, I need to get some advice on what to do with Sir Ugly. I won't post an initial pic 'cause you've all seen the billy basic model so no need to go there. Now I've had the trigger lightened, some of the working parts polished and the obligatory tuffer buffer slipped in there. Nearly all are std Ruger parts.

- What I will add is a pic of what I found yesterday. I was in such a rush to cast away the ugly plastic stock and barrel band that these come with, that I forgot to actually test it 'as is'. This was what I found shooting it with a firm grip front and rear off my bean bag seat


The ugly thing shoots nearly 1" at 100y using all 10 rounds! The hogue stock I bought with wide channel (for a bull barrel) just didn't work with the thin barrel.



Questions
- What trigger system is the best for these?
- I've tried CCI and SK so far, any other readily available ammo brands worth trying?
- Should I go for a shorter bull barrel?
