The rifle Weatherby is releasing to go with it sounds bloody nice.
Have they released an actual case drawing for it yet ?
Who gives a fuck.
Itll be heavy, unbalanced, inaccurate and have a shit bolt.
Titanium mark V 6 lugs action, so the smaller diameter Action.
Lightweight barrel.
So heavy and unbalanced certainly not.
What would be great is if they could change the design of their stock to something more kimberish .
They dared changing their cartridge shoulder for that one, so why not their stock shape.
It will probably be pricey.
Weatherby’s dead isn’t he?
Wait for it.....;)
@Friwi, I suspect that cartridge will be renamed shortly.
The correct name is 6.5 UTB (Ultimate Throat Burner)
Well the 6.5-300 weatherby is going to hold that title for a while I think
Are the deer going to notice the difference?
more marketing bullshit from the gun industry. The long range key board snipers will love it.
I hear you on the Rugers.
Back in the day I had probably 4 - M77 actioned Rugers that all required gunsmithing to fix issues right out of the box. Oval chambers ( fired bullets couldn't be pushed back into chamber without rotating them them get to fit (x2) re-crowns (x2). Never was 100% confident with ruger bolt-actions.
Now the two Ruger No1's I owned I rue the day I sold them.
One of the M77's had the tighest barrel to action fit the gunsmith had encountered so much so he wanted me there to witness them taking it off perchance it broke and I thought it was their heavy-handiness.
It turned out the threads were so loose in fact that the locktite or whatever they used to "glue" it together was really all that was holding the barrel in aligement / mis-alignment.
Never had any of those issues with my 15+ Remingtons in various models. All they nneded was glass-bedding.
I have a Ruger M77 mk1 nothing wrong with it shoots very well 25-06 also a MkV in 224 Weatherby lovely little rifle superb shooter.
I had a go with a Mark V ultralight 270 and it shot very well.
Cant remember if it was Luke, chap 3, verse 7, or Revelations..Anyway, apparently God uses a 6.5x55, for...... the long-shots. No mention of Weatherby
Whilst I have no interest in this new cartridge, how much time have some of you spent with a MkV? I recently sold (as me and my mates interests have changed) a. 224wby, .300wby, .378 wby and .460wby (keeping the. 240wby) all MkVs, say what you will about the cartridges but the Bolt, fit and finish of the MkV is pretty damn good, I'm certainly not saying they're the best of the best, but they're anything but poorly balanced or unruly to hold. I get that it's subjective, but still.

@nor-west how is your. 224 going?
@coltace lovely 55 grn honardy 1 hole same with 50 grn Nosler no time to try anything heavier.
wow another 6.5
Does not appear to offer anything that multiple other cartridges don't already offer, but this will also probably have the downsides of rare & expensive brass & dies.
Not a winner imo.
Marketing ploy to boost sales thats all.
I like the concept and rifle weight, need to see the price first though.
Thanks, didn't see this thread when first posted. cartridge dimensions
Looks like good ballistics (better than 6.5PRC) and aiming to avoid real big recoil.
It will be interesting to see if it can be run in anything other than a Weatherby action and will it feed from a 3006 magazine ?
I liked the Monte Carlo stock ...

I wonder if each new rifle comes with a second barrel ?
I'd be inclined to flag away reloading and buy 800 rounds of factory ammo with it and plan that will be it's lifetime. It looks specialised as an excellent long range hunting rifle and that could be enough rounds. The conventional sloped shoulder with 0.400" headspace datum would make consistent reloading simpler than the Weatherby double radius and the promo video does show several reloading clips, but in the end this may not be its forte unless factory replacement barrels are easily available.
