New NZ 3 gun divisions

I'd like to see IPSC in Nz progress to a stage like where drifting is at. That 30 second video of Keanu Reeves practicing shooting has over 6 million views on youtube, not because people like him or the movie he's cast in, but because that style of shooting is incredibly entertaining. Someone should be organising a small media outfit to cover large events in a style like the Warkworth Multigun video, and then send snippets out to tv networks, try to get even a 2 minute showing on sports news.
If we can popularize it then we can monetize it with better sponsorship and i think the sport would snowball

Pretty sure if I ever ended up on some sports news clip shooting a stage, I would attract a heap of sponsorship from a lot of the charitys and foundations.😆

It has been tried. Even with the 2013 Australasian IPSC champs in Rotorua 700-800 shooters from around the world media agencies didn't want to have a bar of it. There was a small segment on a TV1's "Seven Sharp" about Tiffy P. that was originally sold to them as action girl dirt biker, horse rider, shooter...but got cut down to mainly the shooter aspect. I remember at the end of it the reporter said something along the lines he was conflicted , hating firearms but she was attractive. Positive press for the sport is incredibly hard to come by.

@Mufasa. Mate got our range calander and the SI 3gun is on there as 16-17 July.

PNZ changed it not us. It may pay to get hold of them and ask why this has not been updated on the PNZ website.

Cheers, I flicked the section director a message, he hasn't heard anything. Still waiting on a response from the match organizer. I have a feeling there are a few other NIers who have booked passage based on the PNZ website...has suspicions of an imminent cluster *$^*.

Yeah mate. I confirmed the dates when we had a shoot on sunday.

Definitely 16-17 at Hoki.
When I brought up that people have booked travel per dates on PNZ I was told that PNZ should have sorted it earlier.

It was PNZ who changed the dates. They should be accountable.

To be honest I am really worried about this shoot. I have been put in as the club secretary and I have no idea what has been arranged around this shoot to date. I have had no input whatsoever.

I have no idea how many or what stages we will have.
Hope our club does not look bad after this.

CPC members still under impression the dates are 9/10th ... Well they were as off last weekends shoot ... I did mention 16/17th

Just not much info coming out. Apparently the section director is sorting a lot of stuff.
I do work away from home and cannot contribute much time apart from when I am home but I am in the dark as to what is happening.

That's not to say it won't be a great shoot.
I am just overly worried because I don't know much.
I also may not even be able to attend due to work which sucks seeing it is at home.

The last one in 2013 was great fun, even with the downpour haha. I'm sure they'll get everything sorted out in time.

I rang the club president today who is pretty sure it is on the 9-10 having just spoken with Chris the bloke organising the match. Last Hokitika match damn yeah that was a down pour...still not enough to put me off returning.

It is in our AGM minutes and I confirmed on sunday with the outgoing secretary and club president.
I have just arrived at work and had leave approved and booked flights to be able to attend at my own expence.
If it has changed again I will be furious.

I'd hold off on booking tickets if planning on attending the double tap, issues have arisen and are being sorted through, but rather than potentially wasting leave and money don't book anything.

F not good.

Yeah I had tickets for the SI 3-gun booked too, it is a shame it is off, I might just come and do the touristy thing..I can't remember the last time I traveled somewhere in New Zealand when I wasn't hauling firearms around. Funnily enough someone was also good enough to point out that Air NZ has canned flights from Auckland to Wanganui which I'd also already booked for the NI IPSC champs. It has been one of those weeks ;-)

Coming events Will be a bit of fun for those who can't cancel their flights. I would say most of CPC who were 3gunning will be going.

Just in case word hasn't gotten around the Double Tap match has been cancelled.

I know Shit happens, but I think as a sport, we have really got to get better at organising events and general range stuff.

Cancelling events due to low numbers, weather, earthquake damage, etc.... - all understandable. Cancellation due to nothing mentioned, hints of piss poor organisation, and people saying but not doing.

We were trying to keep reasonably quiet on the matter to avoid speculation, but suffice it to do we had an unexpected range closure which the committee is trying to work through.
