    New shooter gone hay wire

While in NZ in June tahr hunting I dropped of an action stock and scope to Abe for him to screw in a barrel chambered in 7/08 with a throat cut long enough to be able seat 150 Barnse ttxs to the base of the case neck
He put it all together, organised cases, made up a load and sighted it in. Told me it was shooting under .75moa. Great.
I picked the rifle up from him to go Tahr and Chamois hunting in September. Maddy successfully shot a 2 tahr and a chamois despite having ten days rain during our 12 day hunt.

A last minute decision by me to get the barrel carbon wrapped changed how the rifle shot the loads Abe had work up so I knew a bit of fine tuning would be require when we got home.

    This is what happened

The first 6 shots were all the same poa
The next 2, 7-8 were after adjusting the scope 12 clicks right
The final 3, after adjusting another 8 clicks right
To say I was disapointed is an understatement so last night I pull of that scope and replaced it with another.
Unfortunately it was fairly windy today but I had to see if the scope made a difference

THe wind was gusting left to right and I tried to shoot between gusts. Bottom right were the first 3 shots, I then adjusted 7moa up and fired 2 more. These loads were some I made up last night and are not tuned to this rifle in any way. Both groups were under .75moa and looks like all will be well with the rifle
I won't say what brand of scope as the rep after one phone call has organised for it to go back to Europe and be sorted out.
If the weather is better in the next couple of days I will post an up date of progress

You would be gutted if that happened to your scope while on your trip and saw the bull of a lifetime!
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

308Win One chambering to rule them all.

Given you don't want to say the brand of the scope i have to assume it isn't the scope shown in that first picture? Sweetas though, the rep for that brand scope is really good to deal with in my experience.

I need to retitle this thread "A Thing of Beauty"

I took the brake off to clean the rifle and now can't find it. Must have put it some where "safe"

Ladder test done this morning 1and 2 in same hole slight breeze over left shoulder

Gabes original load. I was really struggling with mirage by this stage so did no more. Am a happy camper now

Kiwijames your probably right but looks like he got lucky this time

Thanks Abe I think I might have to buy you a couple of beers Ackley
