"hunter" shoot? If by that you mean you can bring along your hunting rig and we show you how to shoot it to long range on our gear, on our time for free and then you walk away, the answer is probably never (again) as that is not the point. We did try it to an extent in the past and all we found was "hunters" came along, absorbed a considerable amount of our free time and materials but never joined. We are not a commercial range, or a gunsmith, we are not a business endeavour, but a not for profit club for its members who spent a lot of our free time and money at this. The idea is to get ppl interested in the long range sport and not be a free resource. You can join a commercial range and that is $500~$600 odd a year run on a farm over in makara? I believe. I think someone on here? runs it?

From what I've seen I don't think @scoped would need to be shown how to shoot long range Steven

@ebf that may well be the case but the idea is not to be a free resource hunters can use to set up their guns, I certainly have come across enough people in the last 3 years where this was their expectation.

Everybody pays the same range fee, or do you allow visitors to shoot for free ? If someone is willing to pay the range fee just to confirm their LR zero, fine by me, lord knows I've done it often enough with my gong/hunting rifle...

Scoped, rock up any Sat afternoon and have a go. Use your 6.5-284, and then I might even be able to convince you to try one of the dirty 308s

Did you ever stop and consider why they didn't sign up?

And other than stickers to cover the holes, how much 'cost' did they really incur? I presume their range day fee would have comfortably covered this?

They dont sign up because its not what they are into. Sure they can come along and shoot but the majority need to spend an hour getting a 100 yard zero first before moving to the 300. Thats time we dont have. Our range is on a working dairy farm and we are on the clock. But that said, we run days specially for light sporting rifles, so that we can include everyone.
