    NZSRA Bolt Action Match

i had an enjoyable day at Clevedon, dragged out the 100 year old P14 and gave her a workout, or rather, she gave me one... Finished 6th overall, out of 15, bronze in the Turn Tap and Rattle and close to the medals at 300m, highest scoring Mauser action. Really happy.

What were the ranges? Any idea what MOA the P14 does at 100yds?

Same here, no real issues with stripper clips on the No4 but the P14 Im all thumbs.

I've been shooting the P14 in Sr matches for 16 years now and I actually think its strips more smoothly than a No4. That is when you have decent stripper clips. The WW1 clips are excellent but most of the later clips with the round holes in them require a bit of work to get them up to speed. 303 is a bastard round for clip work and even the best sometimes cock it up.

@steven we shot at 100, 200 and 300. The original specs for the P14 equated to somewhere around 1.5 to 2 MOA. It was actually quite a complicated spec with stuff like 5 out of 7 shots in so many seconds inside a 5 inch ring at 200 yards or something. Mine was doing a tad over 2 MOA with its original barrel when I got it. Thanks to @Herbmiester importing issue spec barrels from Criterion, it's doing better than that now and I haven't even started new load development.

yeah I looked at those they look good, but I got lucky and got a P14 with a good barrel so I didnt need one. Though a mate wants to sell his P14 but it needs a new barrel, so Im waiting on him to offer it at a fair price given a new barrel is 450NZ. I need to load develop my one as well but first off I need to sight it in by moving the front post as its 10inches to the left at 100yds and then get 5B sights for it, hard to come by and annoyingly there was a set on the gun but it was sold without

    regards
