    I'd be interested to see where your left thumb is with your grip, the shadow has a pretty damn good mag release so you should be able to easily reach it with your right thumb.
    Definitely roll your gun and pull into your face like Simon says, it will also help you put more pressure or reach on the mag release. And you shouldn't need to keep the gun on target because if you're planning your stages right you'll only mag change while between targets.
    Lay your index finger right down the front edge of the mag and you'll never miss the magwell.
    I practise all my mag changes at home with Mags full of dummy rounds, saves on ammo and you can do 100's of practise runs in less time
