    Pre-hunt steel shoot validation

Ive done next to no big game hunting over the winter months (apart from an easy fallow hunt early June) the kids are both playing Saturday morning winter sports now which cramps my style to a degree but ive also been a bit slack i must say.

Heading off on a 3 night trip hunting Reds this weekend, theres always plenty of opportunity for some stretchy shots, so thought i had better get out and make sure the 28 is on the money.

Heres the footage of the 3 shots fired with the 28 Nosler. The 1000 yard gong wasnt up, and my range finder couldnt get a reading on the approx 1600 yard plate so didnt go any further than almost 800 yds. I reckon shes good to go.

Good shooting. No risk of a ricochet on that last one?

Its no lightweight at 4.4kg with the 27x telescope, very manageable tho when slung. My other one is a little bit lighter right on 4kg with a 22.5x power scope, almost identical apart from a Rem 700 action and a lighter profile barrel.

The barrel on the 28 in the video is a Bartlein #3 profile finished at 26"

Nah i highly doubt it mate, even with the plate on that shallow angle, they just blow to tiny pieces when hitting hard steel.

Nice work, good to see a rifle validated, I notice you were doping the wind well, do you have a "wind limit" for shooting at game??

Sorry only just seen this, the wind limit increases with practice and experience with the gear. Here's a vid of some testing in a strong cross wind at 640 yards with the 28 Nosler
