It's not a standardized sport with same rules in NZ. Each shoot is unique depending on theme.
Eg walk around on a farm with natural rests like fence post or rocks. Another might have some barricades and unlimited round count. Another might involve running a few hundred meters and you lose points if too slow. Most have targets at deer hunting distances up to 300m but a few are out to 600 or even 1000m. In the south island there a couple out to 1500m. Keep an ear out on this forum and ask on the GPRE page to get in touch. Several nzda branches hold field target type shoots and wellington did once the "runnin rifle" so ask around and see if you want to join one. NzDA ran a national sporting rifle shoot recently at tokoroa range, more formal 4p but with some rapid and snap and a running boar.
