Question about Mcleans Island NZHA membership

Hi.. I don't suppose anyone here is a member.. (I'm betting theres one or two)
Just a couple of questions for ya.

I'm quite keen to join up but it isn't possible for me to attend a Tuesday evening session.
I'm one of those poor sods that works stupid hours..
I start work in the afternoon and work through till the morning.

The real pain for me is that I live about 10mins away from the range.
I've been there a couple of times when I was on Day shift. (a few years ago)
All good fun and nice people.

Before that I used to sight a rifle in down at the river.. just a few shots into the bank.
Times change and don't feel to comfortable doing that anymore.

Is there another way to gain membership.. outside of the normal procedure?
Maybe meet someone there during the day.. Friday afternoon or on the weekend?

Feel free to make other suggestions also.

    Cheers

There is deer stalkers , it's a different system 200 mtr range and cheeper too . I'm not a member of either but really need to join one of them. Probably deer stalkers . I think the hand loaders you get a key if you have been a member more than a year and go anytime , but deer stalkers you need a range dude and they supervise . Your name may suggest wire hairs ?

At the moment you need to attend a couple of Tuesday nights as part of your membership application, I believe that one of the reasons is they want new members to be able to meet other members, there is also concern a lot of people are only joining to get a key & aren't participating in "The Club" and they want to grow the club side of things.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

    Hey Munsey
Yep I know about the DSA.. same sort of thing.. Monday night meetings and unable to attend due to working nights.
The names nothing to do with hair... haha.. just a leftover from the early days on the innernet thingy..

Hey outdoorlad Yea I gathered as much.. but I can't attend a public range night..
Thats why I was wondering if there is another way to meet members...

Munsey I think this answers your question pretty well

Sounds to me like you need to have a Tues nite 'sickie'. You should be able to get the official shit done in the one nite, come early, about 6-6.30,and then attend a couple of working bees(usually a saturday).

If you let the forum boys know when you are going to be there, we can turn up and help push ya thru.

Other members might come up with comments in case I have it wrong. . . . ?

    Hey redbang

That sounds a little bit more like it.. the catch is I'm not one for sickies but will see if I can arrange a night off in a few weeks...
More than happy to turn up for working bees... what better way to get to know people.

I'll do as you mention and try to find a time that suits via a mention on here when I'll be going...
More than likely in 3 to 4 weeks time... bit busy at the moment and doubt that it would go down to well before then..
    Thanks for the comments.
