    Rifle Ranges around Feilding

    Hi all,

I apologise if this question has been asked before but is there a range suitable for sighting in rifles near Feilding, Manawatu. I'm aware of the range out Turitea but the 30 minute drive is somewhat of a turn-off.

Ideally I'm looking for a range about 100m long as I want to sight in my .270 and .308.

    Any guidance is appreciated.

The Cheltenham RC is a full NRA range but the standing rules mean you can't blaze away with a rifle of unknown zero.

Turitea is only 30 minutes, you won't find anything closer except Cheltenham. But... they're not really a rock up and sight in range from memory, been a while since I shot there.

Cheltenham is more of a club that has their own range, rather than a range facility that you can access at your leisure.
Manawatu RRGC (Turitea) is your only local option if you wish to sight in and access the range when it suits. There are also sections you can join for some casual/friendly shoots, even if competition is not usually your thing you may enjoy it.

I know people who travel over an hour to do just that. In the overall scheme of things if it's just a one off to sight in and not to regularly shoot or compete the travel shouldn't be an issue for access to a properly set up facility.
