Rotorua NZDA Field Target Hunters Shoot - This Saturday!

I am involved with running a hunters field target shoot in Rotorua this coming Saturday. As we are just a few days out and there are still a few places availible we have decided to advertise outside the club membership.

We set the course last weekend and it is easier than we have set before - targets between 20m and 350m. Just a note on the calibre restriction (nothing over 8mm and no full length magnums) feel free to ask about your calibre and we might be able to agree on something.

Weather is looking not bad although i suspect a few people might be going to the BOP Service Rifle Shoot on the same day.

Malcolm is handling entries so feel free to call him after hours on (07) 345 6409 though i can deal with general queries.

    Cheers

    Simon

Weather is looking good. Fine with a chance of the odd shower. Light winds....

Curiosity question...why no full length magnums?
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

6" steel targets at 100yards... the magnum calibres smack the shit out of the targets (more so the frames). The no full length magnums rule is easy to enforce on the day without having to define bullet weight and or velocity restrictions and then trusting that people are telling me the truth about their specific load. This is why i said we could always discuss a specific calibre and it may be allowed.

Fantastic day, and for myself a new challenge shooting under a time limit for each round. I got to see some fantastic speed shooting demonstrated by those who were much better shots than I was, which was great! The only way to learn is to spend time with those who are better than yourself and yesterday I learnt a lot.

    So thanks Simon.

Thanks very much for coming along Kim, and for your comments above. We had a good time running the event though it was a bit easier than normal for us.

Really glad you enjoyed yourself but i don't think you have much to learn. You shot very well. You have an accurate, reliable rifle that you are obviously very familiar with. You used support well - even over using your bipod on a couple of occasions. As you mentioned, the time limits are a serious distraction and you will get more practice with those in New Plymouth in a couple of weeks!

Cheers Andy, i talked with Malcolm on Monday. He said he had a bloody good time down with you guys. He is even an associate member now! Had a laugh when he mentioned that!

Looking forward to the Taihape Field Shoot. Malcolm mentioned we might have to up the difficulty again. Few of you guys are getting pretty good! See if you can get Hoff along from Waiouru on the day.
