    Russian Capture pistols and MG's

As many people know, the Russian's captured hundreds of thousands of arms during and at the end of WW2.

Many of them were sent as "aid" to insurgent groups around the globe. This days they are actually for sale on the open market, however the prices are sky high even before they are exported.

The Russian Army is planning on building a type of Cathedral/Spiritual headquarters for is military. The Steps of which are going to be made from Smelted Small Arms.

Here is a video of what they are going to be using.

the lugers and what looked like a MG42 would be a bit of a waste to be melted down.

The Russians, understandably, probably see it quite differently.

I think you'll find they will use the poor examples for steps and sell off the rest. Maybe even throw a Lada or two in the pot.

From just the small sample they showed they look to be in mint condition... I would love a 1939 Luger... Just imagine what's in the rest of those crates!

I'd be like a kid in a candy shop

I suppose the STG 44/ 45's found in Syria where just there on holiday ????:
Sadly the reality is that the only real market for these firearms is the US and the chances of them ending up there are , zero to nothing .

    Syria
Russia was invited into Syria - by the Syrian Government - not like a few other countries that imposed themselves there illegally

"Sadly " been your operative word

No thats not correct. The UK obtain boatloads of Russian stuff and then deact it, or sell it to dealers like me. I have imported a fair few of those green crates full of Russian capture stuff into NZ. But as with all good things, its come to an end as it seems too difficult to get the weapons out of Russia. In years past, they were shipped out at the closest port, but law changes have necessitated skirting round countries that are not "gun transiting through them" friendly, and the shipping cost makes it uneconomical now.

I see where you are coming from , but there are hundreds of crates , and the machine guns would be unlikely to be brought in any numbers because of US regulations . Then there is the fact as to who " owns " these weapons , which runs into the Sanctions on Russia . Sadly the only market that could absorb a large portion of the rifles and pistols is the USA , with some piggy backing of others for the crumbs . But really there could be a massive " hidden " cache in Russia that has been forgotten , who knows what that will emerge ? .

I should have been more accurate with my message - I was reacting to Syria comment more than the origin post
Re the above insurgent groups - yes you will be correct - but remember Russia was Soviet comprising of many countries that now are all independent again.
Some of which are still supplying weaponry to Terrorist and insurgent groups

The flip side to this (what arks me up) is the "other side" never seem to gain the same negative/vitriol traction that Russia does - especially the last few years.
Re the above - the "other side" was supplied weapons by who ??

I will not debate which side was correct in its stand/intent

Germany openly supplied tons of G3s to the Kurds. No secret, saw if on German television. They talked about old but still working weapons....I just sat and drooled. Bet they had all been gone over carefully by an armourer before storage or shipment.
