    Scope height vs MOA adjustment

    Hi humans,

I have a Vortex Viper HS 4x16 scope and currently have it sitting in two piece low optilocks on my Tikka.

I currently only have 23 MOA available for elevation of the possible 50 MOA the scope travels. Scope is currently at 1.68 inches (chamber centre to scope centre)

So if I was to go with lower rings (one piece Optilocks) would that give me more or less adjustment? My brain tells me less but I have no idea really.

    Any thoughts?

If you go with lower level mounts (ie the same angle as the current ones) you will only gain the height difference of the rings, so sweet FA!
If you put on a 20 moa rail you will gain 20 moa adjustment

I guess my concern was if i get lower rings, same angle will I lose elevation or gain. Even if its two clicks Not that that would matter too much.

You would gain elevation, so if you lowered the scope by a quarter inch you would gain 1 click at 100 yards, half a click at 200 and so on.

Just get a 20moa rail will be perfect.

What calibre are you using anyway? 22moa gets ya a fair way out
