Man.... every single one of these videos is great. I have no idea how you do it, but they're excellent. Thank you for making them.
I enjoyed that!
I had always been taught to lie with my legs at an angle but watching that makes a lot of sense in terms of the effect of pressure on alignment.
Yes a good watch
Have been meaning to add a stock pack to my K95 to get the comb to a better height for longer range shooting
That convinced me to do it
My K95 has the hog back style of stock, I find that with prone, uphill shots I have to have the butt high on my shoulder or else it slips down on the shot.
They are for sure a difficult rifle to shoot well at long range uphill
Very difficult for guys who have never fired one before
Mine has a stupidly light trigger which is a trap for learners.
Fine when you are used to it and you only need to touch it and it's off
Highly unlikely, my stock was a business transaction: Dimensions traded for a stock (and I just filed my stock to fit).
But for those of you wanting to add items to the stock, consider having a woodworker add wood and shape to fit. It's a simple process for a skilled craftsman; but you will see the difference in wood and it will affect resale value. I asked for a deliberate contrast in the wood on my prototype.
I have a little about uphill shooting here, but it's mostly downhill. Couldn't find the previous one (more detail on uphill)

Practice!
At first, you make a lot of shit and hopefully you envolve to something tolerable and if you have a message, eventually something people watch and not just endure.
I left them all out there, but I do not encourage anyone to watch below episode 300 or thereabouts :x_x:
I think most new filmmakers appearing on YouTube now starts at a much higher level than I did.
I put the stock pack from my 500 Express on to my K95 for a hunt tomorrow.
It's a spot where most shots are long, windy and rests are difficult because I will be shooting from scrubby face to scrubby face

Is the wood removed and bipod attached straight to that metal thingie with the lever?
I am working on my Blaser k95 shooting, and have found i need to pull it in consistently, and hold fore end firmly, to shoot consistent groups, struggling with the 7x65 due to recoil,
Have just picked up a edition K95, and can not get my head, down low enough, to shoot the iron sights, need more drop at comb, Dealer is currently in Contact with Blaser USA, about this, but I doubt they will do much, The new 6.5 creed barrel, has a white line iron sights, and even the instructions and 1.5 mm alen key don't fit,
Phote so you can see the stock difference,

My K95 bipod system is this
A Spartan, fore end bottom metal with Spartan spigot carried in a Niggaloh pouch in my day pack.

This K95 is my every day carry modern rifle.
But i couldn't bear to modify the standard fore end.
100 % of the animals I shoot over 200m have not seen me.
So i swap the walnut fore end for my hanger / bipod fore end.

Fore end fits in pouch and goes back in day pack before I shoot to avoid leaving anything behind

Pretty effective way of making a K95 easy to shoot out to moderately long range without spending a lot of carrying a huge amount more weight
I got a thicker recoil pad for my 7x65 K95, tames it down nicely. Still a boot though.
Niggeloh also make the perfect sling for the K95
It has 3 bullet loops that are nice and deep for the sort of rounds that you want in a rifle like this.
And it has a small domed pouch intended for a scope cleaning cloth where I keep a laminated and folded range chart

The K95 is not a front rest friendly rifle
Fore end is a delight to carry and gorgeous
But very fine and doesn't sit well on a bag or hasty field rest.
This was my solution and it works well.
All up this is still much lighter than my lightest R93 was.
So once I mastered shooting this well to over 500m I sold all my R93 hoard.
I have had this K95 for about 15 years and for the first 10 years I didn't use it very much.
There were issues I never really took the time to solve.
Long range ease of use was the main issue.
Sloved
Doughnuts in the case necks. My 6.5x65R did push up doughnuts and case prep always frustrated me with little issues and the case / loaded round needs to be perfect in a kipplauf.
I learned to solve this problem when modifying brass for obsolete BP cartridges.
Solved
The last problem / issue was it came from the factory with a 10 ounce / 350 gram trigger pull which i found a bit light and didn't especially like.
That trigger was terrible for guys not used to it.
Now I love that trigger having solved the bipod and loading issues.
I have to ask, is it worth it? Looks like too much hassle and too nice for NZ. Maybe for shooting driven boar at a stand in central Europe.
How to answer that ?
Worth it $s or effort !
Well solving problem / improving things is the essence of being a human ( isn't it )
It would be a very sad world if we took what big business told us we wanted and used it as is.
Loose the passion to improve and evolve and you might as well just give up or give in.
With my K95 I just rest over my pack. Works well for the ranges I shoot, longest deer is 390yds. Have shot it out to 900yds with pretty good accuracy. Shot a 3.5” 3 shot group at 550yds. From memory I did have a bag under the the butt as well.
Here is a vid of the shooting mentioned above.

very Impressive grouping at that distance with a hunting rifle. Cool vid, good share.
It took me a bit to get used to mine as well but time at the range sorted it and they shoot very well indeed. I never had intentions to suppress mine but want to take it roo shooting so have just recently put one on. Still balances well and does look okay too. Stretched it out to just under 600 yds today.

Terrible shooting Z, again missed the dot :(
Took the K95 out today for a long range session. Spotted this hare at 656 yds. Rested over my pack with a bag under the butt. One shot, complete pass through!

Your K95 seems to hold up well! Lovely rifle
Hell of a shot Stu. I think you might have just started something… “The K95 challenge”
With today's prices, first challenge would be to aquire a K95 and keep both kidneys.
Great videos Norway!
I figured out that pulling the stock firmly into the shoulder with the lower three fingers of the trigger hand a few years ago. I think that alone improved my shooting and recoil management in all positions and any rest type more than anything else. I was a reasonable shot in the feild for 20 yearsbefore that.
Anyone who lightly holds the rifle into their shoulder (target shooters) doesn't shoot lightweight rifles in any sort of positional shooting.
Same as you, I have found that I don't need to load the bipod anymore either because of the firm to shoulder stock position.
Excellent videos. I find light rifles much more finicky to shoot than others.
