@blip the cost would be much the same. Set up time the same all things being equal, same for the threading. It's such a short part even turning it down wouldnt take long

Think Jaco is referring to availability and price of the actual can , not the price of threading, and he is right most yankguns stick to 12x24 ( comes from m16/AR muzzle thread or 5/8 from m10/ ar10 whatever 7.62 is flavourful this year, so if u stick to them u got more models available, however yanks need paperwork for their cans. Expensive they claim and a lot of paperwork, but u can buy an AR ,at a swopmeet with no paperwork. Not a single can has been used in any of hhe mass shooings in the last 15 yrs. Go figure

Yes the yanks have to pay and get a $200 USD "tax stamp" for each suppressor and can be waiting several months, maybe even over a year, for the paperwork to get approved.

So you tend to see them buying one suppressor that they can use on multiple guns, with muzzle devices for quick detach and adapting to different threads. So it helps have as few threads in use as possible, to ensure maximum cross compatibility.

The bore of the suppressor is usually bigger than needed for the similar reasons. Buy a 30cal and use it on both a 308 and a 223, buy a 45cal to use on a 45acp and a 9mm etc... and just eat any slight loss in efficiency, rather than paying the government and waiting another year.

which is best...well I always say if your in north island,go get DPT to do the whole job for you,if in south island go to gunworks.... in saying that I have a waitaki muzzle forward that Im happy enough with, doubt I will ever kill it on single shot.
but all three you can go back to manufacturer in future... some might be fly shit lighter, fly shit shorter, fly shit quieter...but its a fly shit only difference.
dropping a grain of powder or two will make them much quieter no matter what can you run...its ALL swings n roundabouts...

So that could be amything like 1/2x28, 9/16x24, 5/8x24, M14, or M18 depending your barrel.
Also worth noting the finer the thread pitch, the less meat removed to create the threads.

Just got my hands on a Mossberg MVP Patrol and not keen on taking the iron sights off. Can anyone recommend a muzzle forward can that i can still run the iron sights with?

However if over barrel is what im limited to then so be it. 5/8x24 thread
