Something New from Desert Tech to be unveiled at SHOT Show 2014

Just saw this link on another forum and it has all the black rifle guys in Canuckistan foaming at the mouth.

Today Desert Tech (formerly Desert Tactical) announced a brand new multi-caliber bullpup rifle dubbed the Micro Dynamic Rifle (MDR). The MDR converts between calibers without tools and, get this, it maintains zero between calibers with the iron sights. It uses a patent pending forward ejection system giving it the ability to kick spent cases forward of the shooter thus allowing easy transitions from shoulder to shoulder. It’s claimed the rifle is fully ambidextrous without any requirement to modify the rifle for either right or left hand use.

It has an overall length of 26″ (or 20″ with a NFA 10.5″ barrel) and a weight of 7.5lbs.

They don’t mention what calibers will be available, so I’m very excited to see what will be offered. Hopefully there will be multiple calibers available when the rifle hits the market.

The price is yet to be announced but I plan on getting as much information about this exciting new product at SHOT Show next week. Stay tuned for more information.

Some of these are horrible, put a 338 to shame, very hard to shoot without flinching

It seems a little silly to me as well but the options are set in stone yet so the .308 may only be 16.5", which still produces quite a pop...

10.5" .308 makes heaps of sense, big punch in a small package, still quiet with a can... get ~2300-2400fps with 150gr ammo from it

They need a 20" barrelled version to be NZ legal. I'd buy one if accurate + light enough + chambered in similar to .243/.260

@gimp - Would a permanently attached flash suppressor/hider meet the NZ Gov requirements for barrel length? Just asking because Desert Tech is making a special run of 18.5" barrelled MDR's for the Canadian market that'll almost surely be threaded for a flash hider. An industrious kiwi importers could have the standard hider replaced with a longer one and have a NZ-legal MDR, presumably.

Yeah that'd do it, of course they'd be E cat imports
