There's a lesson in these results - for all shooters and hunters . . .
I know Jake a bit, he practises and is very disciplined. But his gear is the most basic you'll ever see, just a plain ole Tikka 7mm08 and a JW15 - he probably has $2K in the whole lot. He hunts with both rifles (and a 7mm Rem Mag he has, don't know how much use that gets)
Note to self - stop buying shit that you think might improve your shooting/get more game. Focus on self. Shoot more and try things. All hard to do in this current age of "I can buy it".
Jake shot his 7mm Rem Mag on Saturday and 7mm08 on Sunday. We shot equal scores both days, ending up 3rd equal overall. He definitely bet me on the gear cost vs score ratio though! Was my first time shooting the Mountain Challenge so was a bit of a learning curve. Looking forward to putting in some practice to improve on this years results (including using the right rifle data in Applied Ballistics... )
I also need to get a better team mate
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more
