    Strelock

Is anyone else out there shooting a 308 with a Bushnell elite drop dot recticle? DOA 600?

Im wanting to compare notes as according to Strelock my 150 gr SST load of 2206H at 2830 fps is close to the dots ending at the 600 yard drop dots. that my load should be at 593 yards?

I not so sure with Bushnell recommending even hotter loads for the reticle to work.

    Has anyone had a play???

    What say you?

a few hundred meters of elevation would give more error than 7 yards at 600, pretty close match i would say.

Remember that it will also depend on what zoom you are at as to what ranges the holdovers will be.

Strelok tells me that mine line up almost perfectly for 300, 400, 450, 500yds at 15x zoom. Load is 168gr SMK's at 2700fps.

It will only give you an idea though until you test them at the various ranges.

One thing to remember is that in theory 7yds at 600 will give you more error than 7yds at 300, due to the trajectory. The projectile will drop a lot more in that 7yds at 600yds. So if possible play with Strelok, and if it's a choice between a small error at the closer holdovers or at the longer holdovers, go for the closer ones. Then go test them at the different ranges.

Mines a 3-9x40 so the dots are calulated on 9 power.

Ill have to get on a longer range shoot to see what the story is, I using 44.4 grains of 2206H, can go up to 45.6 max. i should see what velocity this gives.

    Help an idiot out...?

Gone to using factory hornady American whitetail 308 150gr (what I had lying round, someone else using rifle) sighted in with new scope and stock last night at 100m, 1.5inch groupings... It will do, could have done better on my part. Went out to 350 yards and drop was around 9.5-10.

This morning playing wih Strelock I can't get it to behave, box says muzzle velocity 2820fps and a bc of. 338 (online) Strelock puts his at 5.75MOA for 350... Help?!

350m is about the limit of my shooting ability anyway but just be nice to work it all out.

Rifles a t3 with full length barrel and a Dpt on the end running a Vx1 4-12*40

That BC sounds low, even for a 150 gr 308, but thats what the website says. Also check the figures for scope height and POI above aiming point at 100m. Probably around a 2.8-3" vertical offset? That speed does sound fast off the packet. What barrel length you shooting from?

@223nut I've tried your figures in my strelok+ and was getting the same 5.7moa drop at 350 and been head scratching thought you might have left some elevation on in strelok (been there done that)
Still couldn't replicate your actual results of 9.5 to 10 at 350yards. checked out the drop chart on the ammo box they have an 8.5 inch drop at 300yds off a 200 yard zero.
So if you are working off a 100m zero (109 yards) you are going to need a muzzle velocity of approx 3660 fps to achieve your actual drop of 9.5 - 10 inches at 350 (Hornady aren't that good)
When you wrote a 1.5 group at 100m was that 1.5 high? if so that means your actual zero is at approx 200yds but you should get a drop of 14inches at 350 yds,
You need to check all your strelok inputs
is it yards or is it metres
what is you zero setting (100 or 200)
    check elevation is zero.
check temp setting under cartridge I think Hornady speed results are done for a 24inch barrel at 20 deg C
check if there is a vertical offset on instead of zero
check weather settings to be close to actual.
Check scope height setting (I've used 2.0 inches -knowing the actual would help)

Finally my experience with DPT cans (love them) is all my weapons have printed high with can on. Did you zero with Can off by any chance?

Might need to start another thread as we've highjacked @savageshooter s thread sorry mate

In my very limited experience, factory stated MV are often optimistic at best.
Borrow a chrony and get the numbers from that

No can do before my trip... Velocity has to come up to 3200fps for it to be right... Doubt it somehow. Real world tells me it's a bit over an extended hand span thumb to little finger so gives me a good ballpark hold over as I can't be bothered twiddling knobs with this scope

Sounds like a pretty typical factory 150 grn .308 load.

Just bump the velocity back to where it fits?

I just got strelok+ myself and so far find it rather fiddly compared to shooter.
Will be sticking with shooter as it has not let me down yet.

I just ran your numbers through strelok+ myself and it seems 300m is about the point that pill will drop off in its arc. Ran it at 2700fps and moa was around 4.7 at 350. I guess it is that shitty BC!

Cheers @Feral has added to my knowledge but using 100yd zero.

Need to measure scope height again. By the time I have it sorted I'll be swapping scopes for the set up to the Toby shoot. Maybe I need 2 308s....
