Ive dropped them on rabbits at what I estimate to be 100 metres rested on the deer mesh but I just cant deal with having to clean my rifle twice in one evenings shooting.

geeze mate twice in one night I clean the barrel on my 22 once a year its all it needs honestly the bullets have a wax lube on them which protects your bore so no need to worry about rust

now... I know your getting excessive fouling which is making the need to clean have you tried the ammo in another gun..... same issues if so ammo if not rifle....if its the rifle I would send it away to get checked you could have a rough chamber that needs laping
if you have dry fired the gun a lot? as you might know this is bad for a rim fire it can break the firing pin or put small dents in the barrel face which can cause empty rounds to stick in the chamber also you could try giving the barrel a good scrub with a bronze brush you may have a little leading or something in there

how ever none of this should affect speed so my best bet is ammo best way to tell it go buy some more (make sure it has a different batch number)
and see if that fixes it if not its a fult with that particular batch if not try different ammo maybe winchester Remington or something

Clean a .22?! Surely you're taking the piss!
