Andy , I have a friend who's son isn't interested in reloading, he has a stock T3 in 243 and gets sub Moa accuracy out of standard Winchester 100gr power point ammo

    Allright you lot,
that gives me something to go on.
I went and shot it this afternoon with some ppu and was pleasantly surprised as it went under an inch with a 3x9 scope.
I will check it at 200 and good to go.
the scopes a vx1 and got issues as can't quite get the retcle and image focused at the same time.
not the first time I might add!

Andy it is your eyes- not young anymore. Someone under 30 will be able to focus the image Sharper. of course the crosshair will blur a little. My VX-I is the same . It's a good Scope and doesn't cost or weigh what your other scopes do.

Andy, maybe your VX 1 isn't focused correctly. I had a look at this link a while ago and found it helpful in sorting the same issue. http://www.wilhelm.co.nz/focusriflescope2.pdf

We're getting away from the OP question.

That's a good explanation on the link. Wilhelm used to repair scopes. He knows what he's talking about.

I think Andy has done the only adjustment possible on the VX-1 which is focussing the reticle. He will be used to focussing the target using a parallax knob too. Then both target and reticle are sharp at the same time. I suspect that if you're a bit short or long sighted the actual parallax movement might not be zeroed at the same time. For careful shots I try to zero out the parallax and then the target is not quite sharp, which is the least important of the three. The VX-1 is set to a compromise and I think a young shooter has better focussing ability specially up close so will be able to make better use of it. If you're over 50 and need reading glasses you start to notice imperfect focus and can't get round it. I doesn't help if you've also got a really good parallax adjustable scope to compare it to. VX-1 is a good scope for what its designed ad priced to do.

I tried PPU 90 grain in my 243 and was lucky to hit an A4 sheet of paper at 100 metres. I thought that it was just me but no.

I think Federal do a load using the Serria 85gr Game King HPBT.
Found it. Federal premium with the sierra 85 gr game king at 3320 fps.
This has been around for a longtime and is widely viewed as one of the best projectiles for the 243 short of some of the very recent developments.

Just google the 85 gr Sierra game king.

Remington 80 gr PSP. A friend of one of my sons shot a group better than MOA here on Friday in gusty SE wind with his T3 cut to 20 inches, shot a deer with it that evening. Apparently it shot the same stuff well before chopping the barrel.
Just going to take a look around the next bend...
