    Tactical denfense classes

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4EhX9WN54M

    Hi all,

Just watched this video and until now hadn't realised how unprepared I was for the zombie apocalypse or 57 armed men attacking me whilst bringing the cows up.
Geez I don't even own a tactical chest rig that is comfortable enough to sleep in!

Does anywhere in NZ offer tactical self defence classes so I can fight the North Koreans when they invade? Or if I am attacked by Greens supporters in my sleep?

On a more serious note, does anyone else here watch these types of videos and think Americans are just a little over the top?
I can understand being prepared and well practised for a concealed carry situation, or able to use a gun in the dark if I were allowed to keep one for self defence.
But when it comes to chest rigs and fighting stances and talking about CQB in a self defence situation, is it really necessary?
Sure it could be fun to do, but I don't think they are doing it just for fun. It makes me glad that we have a firearms licence and stricter rules for owning guns here.

Get a bomb implanted in your body that is somehow rigged so once you die it goes off. At least you get the last laugh as you float up and see the twat that killed you spread throughout the household.

These ones probably were rejected for serious psychological reasons.

Just a guy teaching people to use a shotgun. Wasn't all that 'tactical' was it?

OK I'll admit this guy wasn't to bad.
At first he seems like he is just teaching folks to use a shotgun, but it's the small things that make the difference.

His simple "gear he was running" involves a chest rig that can hold 24 rounds, in quick deployable little doo dahs. Now when I have taught people to shoot my shot gun I usually pull the ammo out of the box, or my pocket, or if I'm feeling a bit hardcore its and ammo belt.
He mentions fighting stance and the loading through the port instead of from the tube like a normal person, are the first signs of SAS wanabee.

All these things could be fine, if he was training people for 3 gun or extreme duck shooting. But since it was for beginners or folk interested in self defence, it begins to cross the line.
Usually I'd expect one to shoot clays if they were wanting to shoot a shot gun well, instead of shooting a shotgun like SWAT.

It's like Airsoft. Shooting your mates with BB guns is great fun. It's when the Military gear comes out, the badges get sewn and the call signs start getting used it turns south.

Firearm proficiency is more important in gaming and hunting than it is in self defence?
They're learning defensive use of a shotgun, and you expect them to shoot clays?

You said he was teaching them to use a shotgun in your post, so I said how I would teach someone to shoot a shotgun.

Anyway, if you are teaching a beginner the basics of self defence with a shotgun, loading through the ejection port and wearing you Tactical Assault vest and single point sling is pretty over the top. One would assume that loading through the port was because you have used all 8 rounds in your extended mag, and only in America is it expected that in a self defence situation you will need that many shots.

Maybe if they were taught to shoot clays then they would be a better shot and have quicker reaction times than a steel plate in front of you. Which is about infinity billion times more useful in real life than loading through the port with single shots, as if you have used all 8 rounds in your shotgun, the chances are you are going to need more than just one more and it would make far more sense to reload the whole mag. Or just use the pistol you have tucked into your undies, or the backup pistol on your thigh holster, or the throwing knife in your shoes.

Again, teaching people to shoot defensively is not something I view as extreme, it's the little things like the Military sayings and the Tactical outfits that one does not need.
This guy is pretty tame compared to most out there, but it was just his video that sparked me to make this thread.

I bet he has a rifle like this at home though, and wears those stupid glasses everywhere.

Sheesh 73 different brightness settings for the red dot and it comes in rainbow colour dots and I am impressed by the leopard scope.

Wouldn't be surprised if the recoil from the first shot made all the attachments drop onto the ground.

I'm more alarmed at his pretty lax range control. Head by the muzzle of the shooter, shoots and then causally walks up to the target still holding loaded pistol?
