    Target Practice/ Range near Hamilton

Does anyone know of a range or bit of land near Hamilton that I could use to sight in my centrefire rifle at 100-200Meters and hopefully do a bit of target practice with the .22 too. Happy to provide beer.

Your best bet would be joining the Tokoroa Shooting Sports complex - good value if you do a reasonable amount of shooting. That's what a large majority of the Nzda Waikato members here in Hamilton do (myself included). If you only want to do a one off sight in you might be better trying to find a local friendly farmer but I found it easier to join at Tokoroa and get a key & swipe card than organize with a farmer and they were family.
The deerstalkers run .22 shoots once a month at the indoor 25yd range which is based at the club rooms in Ham East. PM me and I can send you some relevant contact details if you're interested

Another alternative is the 50m & 100m range out near Paeroa which is run by Thames Valley Deer Stalkers

    Hi tas,
If youre just looking for a single visit at tokoroa, not ongoing access, then the South Waikato NZDA have a monthly range day and if you speak nicely youll be able to talk your way in there probably. Pav or i can get you a copy of their calendar and contacts details. Same regarding sight in at Dey st youll need to be well organised and come early before the formal shoot (or else shoot 4 positions with us - excellent practice)

I'll endorse that - the 4 position .22 shoot at Dey St is great shooting practice for the field. Now if only I was a bit more organized and/or it was on a different night I might be able to show up more than twice a year...

The BOP NZDA have open days on the last Sunday of every month at their range at the TECT park between Tauranga and Rotorua. You can shoot 25, 50, 100, 200 & 300m all from the same position. I think it's $25, you must bring your FAL and should have chamber flags in rifles when you arrive.
