I get really annoyed with myself if I can achieve this. That is why I’ve bought and sold four 223s.

Yes, range will need a range officer on duty I’m told, unsure if everyone can become a ranger officer and go by themselves. Makes one laugh, Curly bulldozed the range out in the 50s, it’s been an open range to all without major trauma, as far as I know. Now it needs police rules ffs. The thing I find, if I use the range and others are there, you have to talk to them, you have to work together, Ive met some great guys out there and learnt a few tips. It will probably be closed to non NZDA members. But it’s all to be decided.
It would be a real shame to lose it for sure.

Yep, I joined Taupo NZDA as an oldie, have a key to the range, leave my wife in town and head out for 1 or 2 hours of mucking about with various rifles. This time, met and old guy with his grandkids and their parents, teaching the kids to use a 22. Had a chat and hopefully he will join the club.

Yeah and Range Managers etc., annual reports to the police amongst other things. Who would want to take on the responsibilites? The likes of Taupo will survive but smaller outfits will just say it's not worth all the hassle, we're done. Part of the master plan....

All true, part of the plan to f us over, wait till they start certifying/applying templates to all ranges.
Then your lifestyle block neighbors dob you in for operating a range.

If PNHQ are making it difficult to operate a range, why not make it difficult for Police to use all those ranges they have never had to fund and operate. i.e. ban them. Good for the goose is good for the gander???

thats the trap, you just fell into...... instead of the police then seeing you and fellow shooters as good/nice/responsible chaps who know how to shoot and are fine fellows to be around on a range...you create an us and them situation and you become "the arseholes who kicked us off their range"
plenty of folks on here bitch and moan police dont handle firearms often enough or well enough........think about that for 2 seconds..... then re-read what you posted.

yes I understand folks are pissed off and the new rules are dumb dumb and more dumb.....but creating further devide isnt going to help.

Agree to a point. Yes, it pisses off the guys who want range time, but the buffoons in bullshit castle just end up ticking off the " I don't have to fund ranges up and down the country"...
As a general rule Police do not get a tenth of the weapon training they need, compared to Army. And the govt legislate they can both take lives.

All I'm saying is that its the Police now making a lot of the calls re firearms legislation, and they need to see cause and effect.

I'm hoping thst it will be able to run in same way a PNZ range does, whereby, everyone is an RO, so you can just look after yourself. I guess you will have to be a full member with RO quals going forward though. This is really going to kill ranges around the country.
