I hope they can keep it as is for a while. Then again I should really get around to joining the Rotorua DA.

All true, part of the plan to f us over, wait till they start certifying/applying templates to all ranges.
Then your lifestyle block neighbors dob you in for operating a range.

Agree to a point. Yes, it pisses off the guys who want range time, but the buffoons in bullshit castle just end up ticking off the " I don't have to fund ranges up and down the country"...
As a general rule Police do not get a tenth of the weapon training they need, compared to Army. And the govt legislate they can both take lives.

All I'm saying is that its the Police now making a lot of the calls re firearms legislation, and they need to see cause and effect.

I'm hoping thst it will be able to run in same way a PNZ range does, whereby, everyone is an RO, so you can just look after yourself. I guess you will have to be a full member with RO quals going forward though. This is really going to kill ranges around the country.

You won't find .308 brass any more after cops have been there. That cal was deemed overkill and they stick with .223 now as well as the 9x19 for the Glocks. The .223 brass is all crimped now (never used to be) so needs extra processing

Surely the Police would have to supply their own RO so wouldn't they be accountable for OSH?

Basically everything changed with the 2015 Worksafe Laws and it has taken time for all of the "Safety" legislation to come out , it has been slowly pushed for some time. A Club that operates , and sometimes doesn't,a range is Liable under the Worksafe laws for a multiple of possible sins . Being not paid is no defense as the club/range accepts money , even volunteers are liable , and previously you could get a charge of Manslaughter if things went particularly pear shaped .
As for the Police and Armed Forces they have always had to have a Qualified RO , and yes the Police have been effectively kicked off ranges in Auckland to the point they had to build one in Onehunga?. I know of one range that gave a half arsed reason for them not to come back with the real reason being they where more trouble than they were worth .
The Taupo range is just catching up with the times and the need to get there ducks in a row prior to the new Range rule? , whatever they will be .

It's just a community tennis court with no courts where people sometime happen to zero their rifles.
