The target in the image was at 100m before I sighted the rifle in (which I still haven't done 100%). I realise that the best way to get better is to get out and do it. Will also have to find some better places to shoot - I don't think I was to popular with the Puhoi locals.

Looking forward to perhaps meeting a few of you and learning more.

Often the fastest route to success is to have an experienced shooter mentor you for a couple of hours, sorting your body position and shooting technique for various situations according to your body and rifle type.

Dougies first ever shots at distance with a .223 were bang on a 3 inch target at 620yrds and a week later within three inches of a 3 inch target at 770yrds in breezy conditions, using the right technique speeds up the learning curve

Proper Confidence in a relaxed atmosphere is the key.

The memorial shoot held at Brads place this year would be a perfect spot to harass some gongs and learn a 1000 things, come along TimK

Where and when is the memorial shoot? I was actually looking for a coaching service or someone I could pay to spend some time helping me to make sure I don't form bad habits. On the flip side I could also just go and enjoy and practise and not overthink it. ....

I would be dubious about paying someone. It's easy to talk the talk and take your money without giving a shit about you or your safety.

Where are you based? I'm no F class champ but could tell you what I do know. I'm sure plenty of other forum members.

Scroll down this page to "Toby Goodley Memorial Shoot"

Post in there of your intentions to attend the shoot and your location, someone will have a space in a vehicle to get you to and from the shoot, it will be an experience you will never forget, with people that will never let you forget

You will learn valuable amounts about shooting and have a lot of fun in the process.
Make yourself known to one of the Range Officers on the day and you will be looked after
