Long Range Hunting with XactSystem

Impressive technology - but it's not hunting.
Definitely,a no brainer.
I bet thats what they said scopes were invented
When my mate uses GPS directions to go to a house he forgets how to find it again without GPS and yeah, that link above ain't hunting.
But I say that rich american fuckwits who go to a farm that lets them shoot a "record nz deer" for a bunch of dollars aren't hunters either.
The critical thing here is that the computer pulls the trigger so yeah nah
No gadget I have ever seen or used has put a deer in front of me... Best cash ive ever spent on hunting deer is the gas to get there.
I will confess that my robo duck is awesome tho
Ive seen a guy totally stuffed buy the flat battery's in his GPS. Argued like shit with me and my compass while I was trying to help him..
couldn't argue with the fact it was 3pm bright sunny day.. As i walked away the last thing i said was the sun sets west. Have a nice evening.
I dont have any issues with people taking advantage of the new goodies on the market today,There is however a bit of a lack of training in basics Eg: Compass / Map work..
HEY GUYS HAVE YOU SEEN THIS TRACKINGPOINT THING??!
Why are you posting to yourself?
He has no friends :D
Ethical shots at long range they say, shot the zebra fair in the guts then cut to next animal.
99.9% of American hunters pay to hunt - that's the way it works over there
Tag, lease, feed, etc all costs money, it's a completely different hunting society to what we have here.. It isn't a great big country of public hunting land like we have here
More feed, less pressure = more money = better heads - simple economics
The guys that actually walk anywhere are HARDCORE, most ride the quad to 100yds of the stand and sit and watch the feeder- because that's how you hunt in the US
There is a season for rabbits in the Texas Panhandle
Knock a deer over in season in your truck and you have to go get the game warden and a tag for it.. Hope it hasn't got nuts as there's your buck tag gone! Lol
Man that is twelve different colours of fucked up
Evolution of technology is always taking away skill. No doubt the musket shooting walked for a week into the bush would roll over in his grave seeing shooters with scopes, centrefire calibres, range finders, binoculars - shit the list goes on. No doubt the spear and stick throwers think musket shooters are a bunch of soft cocks :D
Work hard enough and people will find something to complain about, somewhere.
That is a bit out there as a generalization , hunting methods , seasons ,approved firearms , number and sex of the deer , species of the deer change state to state , and area to area .Laws are different for locals and out of towners , no hunting on Sunday ,, it isnt a great big country , it is huge compared to NZ and there are immense areas of public land open to hunting . In one of the smallest states 1.5 million hunters buy licences . Some states have seasons for handgun , bow , muzzle loader and rifle , some ,because of population density ,only allow shotguns etc , Mainly they hunt whitetail , but there is a lot of Elk , Moose and Mule deer etc . A lot of the country is as hard as any in NZ and a quad would be of no use at all . Most states ,if not all , make it illegal to fly in and hunt on the same day.
The rabbits in the USA are , in the most part, native animals , like most of the deer .
Some of the money spent is always a licence fee , and the money raised goes back into game management ,
A lot of NZ's use quad bikes , a lot would like to bait deer if they could get it to work, those who fly in with Heli Sika on hunt on Maori land are paying to get there and to hunt when they do . A lot of NZ's pay to hunt on game farms here , why do you think the operators have stands at the Sika Show etc? They do it to sell to NZ hunters.
I have a mate in the south US and he shoots 6 hinds then one buck for a very cheap licence fee , when that is all filled in he can get another tag and do it again and again.
Most of us use firearms , ammunition, cartridges , scopes , clothing and other kit , developed for and used by these hunters .
Just watched this doco. If you've got the time it's an interesting point of view of it in action.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBC8IFWC1P0
Watched it, it its specs it automaticy adjusted for everything including wind, i thought how does a lazer do that?
Then later in the vid the brother said you still have to make your own wind call.
Yip, and they still gut shot a few animals, even shot that pig through ''the rear shoulders'' and missed the 1000y target all due to wind. All the technology in the world can't beat experience when it comes to shooting, especially in the wind.
Basically its a an advanced version of the Burris Eliminater scope with an electronic trigger and nothing more...but I'd hate to imagine the price tag?
kj
That's a very good point you're making there. Exactly why would you need to 'paint' the target with a dot electronically (have a computer track that) and then stall the shot. Is this better than simply using a cross hair and developing good trigger control??
Its another case of developing answers to problems that would have ironed themselves out with practice.
Take something very simple, make it very complicated so it only half works how you want it to, and ultra expensive :x_x:,then try to iron out the issues. So it ends up worse off than the simple solution but still ultra expensive.
Thread update.

Shooter must wear a tactical beard though for it to work properly.
