    C. The rifle and ammunition combination used must be capable of maintaining
projectiles velocities above the speed of sound from the firing point to the target.
    D. Rifle weight with bolt, bipod, suppressor, scope and magazine* (*if detachable) shall
    not exceed 9.6kgs.
    E. Any rifle scope may be employed

    G. Rifle can be fired from either a bipod or from a bag placed under the forestock.
    H. The width of the forestock shall not exceed 66mm (2.6 inches).
    I. Bipods must be of a commercial folding leg design (e.g. Harris, Atlas, Accu-Tac or
other similar commercial design). Bipod spikes are permitted. Other forms of front

Man these guys make it hard for themselves (and us to attract guys and justify remaining affiliated) - for example "N" is range dependent, why limit it

Yup, standing orders at Seddon pretty much dictates the rest.

Rules is always tricky, if it aint in there you can get away with it. A lot of this stuff is to prevent "gamesmanship" that usually creeps in, then it becomes a lawyers brekfast instead of a shooting event.

Its what draws me to TR, very level field. Same bullet weight and caliber for everyone.

@kiwial Allan, what's happened to Tai Tapu? I don't see a mention of them in the NRANZ website.

Pretty sure NRA has a "Hunting Class" as well. This designed to accomodate hunting rifles with up to 10x scope, no bipod ot rear support but sling and shooting off a pack are allowed. Not sure of rifle maximum weight but I think about 9 1/2 lbs. Any cal up to 8mm and same max energy as in other classes. ? Te Puke NRA club have run this type of shoot for several years.
There are also service rifle shoots.

Tai Tapu left the NRANZ around 2013 /2014 to do there own thing. Don’t hear that much from them and am not sure if they are still active or not

Thanks to Blair for posting up the rules and specific requirements for the prs f class. The Ashburton sweepstakes meeting mentioned is an great day. Ashburton can get fairly brutal for mirage over the summer months so get in now while sighting conditions are nice

As a hunter or precision rifle type target shooter you are looking for long range DOPE. ie trajectory for your own scope/ ammo/rifle beyond your working distance for hunt / practical shooting. Also some experience with wi d although of course you don’t have standard flags out when you’re in the hills !
This is on a big target where you can see your misses exact location out to about 6 moa away.

Prerequisites are that you have at least a good 100m zero confirmed very recently and have validated how much your scope moves ghe shots out to a out 50cm at 100m ( 20moa). Or reticle subtentions but it would be harder to do from a ballistic reticle alone if you’re not dialling.

“Fullbore” aka now “Target Rifle” discipline is prone with sling and aperture sights has no doubt declined over the last 40 years but is still a standardised event with a reasonable sized following in NZ , AU and the UK,with well organised matches and facilities. Rifle sports are fragmented but this is not the smallest of them.

Are both Malven and Ashburton running electronic scoring ?? If so is it the version that gives the shooter velocity at the target??

@Tentman, just be aware that the chrono feature of the Silver Mountain target has some inherent limitations.

You are effectively relying on a couple of microphones, quite close together (6 or 8 inch stalk), to pick up the sonic crack. In theory this is fine, but when you start adding in vertical angles due to bullet drop, and horizontal angles due to target placement and wind, things get a bit iffy.

Using the displayed speed to get a rough idea of your ES or SD is fine, but as an accurate measure of actual speed, I would look to Magnetospeed or Labradar.
