An old friend of mine had a Winchester 100 semi in 308 years ago. It was in pretty good nick from memory. No idea if he still has it. I would've tried to buy it off him if I had the coin.
Another old school mates dad had a Winchester 401 SL.
Been restocked in wood from old bridge beams (cant remember the bridge-Greymouth road bridge maybe?), so probably an aussie hardwood. Only saw it the once 30 odd years ago but its the only one I ever saw and it is something I would remember. I seem to remember the wood having some yellow colour to it.
I would not be happy handing that in to the squasher. It was a pretty little thing
