Using large suppressor for small calibre

I've got a 30 cal DPT suppressor that I'm thinking about putting on my 17hmr rifle.

Would using a larger suppressor on the small calibre effect accuracy more than using a suppressor made for smaller diameter bullets?

I'm aware that a suppressor could effect my zero, I'm just trying to figure out if I should use my current suppressor or use another one made for smaller diameter bullets.

It will have little effect on accuracy but if it is for a larger calibre it just won't be so efficient. Given that a little can for a 17 are not that expensive I would recommend getting one for gun - The little Sonic cans work well on them and are only about $130 retail....Cheers

PS I am not looking to sell you one (though I can) but means mail order form etc. so better getting local to you.

Use my 7mm DPT on my 17hmr, works better than the rimfire suppressor.

    This.
223 can on a 22lr is noticeably quieter than a little rimfire can.

With the bigger bore you'll lose some effect, I still think it'll be quieter than a small can?

17HMR will fill your good centerfire suppressor with a heap of crap it a pretty
Dirty wee round will work fine on the rifle though

I was using one 30cal on my 223 and 308. Ended up getting a 6.5cal suppressor and it made a big difference to noticeable noise levels. This is only based on my hearing and not a decibel meter. There was a sharpness to the shot that was reduced with smaller suppressor.

It should be fine. Id imagine the large volume of the 30 cal can would compensate for the larger bore hole. Probably similar to a small can with correct sized hole. Downside will be heavier but not exactly going to be a tops rifle is it.
A lot of my rifles share cans with no issues
