I have used the 139gr and the 136gr hybrids in a creedmoor and the 123gr Scenars in the grendel on goats and the performance is inconsistent. Some zip through with tiny hard to find entrance and exits and some grenade inside with 50mm ish exits.
They have thin jackets much like any other target bullet but a very small hollow point which need contact with bone to start the mushroom/fragmentation. I have not recovered any, they have all passed through.
The 123gr scenars out shoot anything in my grendels so I thought Id just run them on game and see how they went.
They are basically the same construction as the sierra TMK and Hornady ELDX wich are great on game but they lack the plastic ballistic tip which helps with a consistent expansion. Filing the lapuas metplat to make a slightly bigger hollow point makes them expand with a lot more consistancy in the lower velocities the grendel operates.
The 139gr and 136gr work fine without filing with a bit of velocity but are pretty explosive compared to a berger hunter bullet which also has the tiny hollow point but has a thicker jacket toward the base.
