Awesome work Monty and Dad.
MB, I started my boy out when he was 5 with a BSA V Scout. He personally wasn’t ready before that age with the safety side of things. The gun, and many others like it, has low power (500 fps at best) which was great for him to learn on as it doesn’t kick or have a harsh jolt some springers do. I thought he was going to have difficulties with the open sights but he took to them with ease and it was getting him to use the scope that took a little bit of work. He’s 5 and a half now and loves to shoot the 22 when ever he can. He has a goal to get ten hits consecutively on a two inch target at 50 yards then he can take aim at live pray, he’s very close now. He’s my loyal hunting companion now, we’ve shot a few deer together and our first pig last Friday.
Good luck and enjoy! It’s a hell of a blast seeing him out there in the wild loving it!
