I couple of years back I was where you are. I bought a brand new gamo .22 Swarm Magnum for about $1200. Sold it the other day to a young friend for $200. Bastard heavy thing to bend that barrel down if youre not a big strong fella. And not even that powerful anyway. Those things are a huge waste of money, buy a higher quality one second hand if you possibly can. Someone on this site might have a decent older one they don't use any more.
Also, .22 will have much better killing power than .17.

Get your licence asap and buy an actual .22 rimfire, they're 100x nicer to use than a clunky break barrel. Try minimize your expenses on air rifles, save your money till you get a licence.
    SL600 and 11mms like this.
