Back to hunting after a few quiet years

    Hi team,

Glad to be part of the forum. I'm back in to hunting after a few years overseas. I just bought myself a heavy barrel
.223 Howa 1500 mini to use on fallow and am taking it to the range this weekend. Pretty excited to see how it shoots.

If anyone is ever keen for a mission from Auckland, yell out.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Haha it was very eayable @micky but so big bodied that my much bigger, stronger mate offered to carry the big bit.
Sadly, a few years ago now - haven't seen any white ones since!

I saw 2-3 of them today...along with nearly 50 of the blacker fellas.... little sun sluts were making the most of it after a heavy frost.
mates like that are worth having around, hope you bought him a beer afterwards,or at least a steak n cheese on way home LOL.

I have heard them referred to as Judas deer before as they betray the position of their mates by being so easily spottable.

Yea, a steak n cheese for sure.

I thought you'd see more reds down your way @Micky Duck?

Not a bad way to have it - variety in what you target. I am a big fan of fallow, they're tastier and easier to carry.
Do the local farmers dislike the growing fallow population? Must be some good opportunities for you, @Micky Duck.

thats the biggie.....most wont allow access and those that do USUALLY already have regular crowds of friends that shoot.
