    Cascade hut

G'day this is my first posting. thought it was a good place to get some advice. I hunt about 10 times a year and have always hunted Reds, usually mqnqge to get a couple a year. Recantly I've shot a couple of fallow and thats whetted my apetite for other species. Ive got a work meeting in Taupo early next week. A colleague suggested we should go into the Kaimanawas to hunt Sika. Looking at going into Cascade Hut. Neither of us has been there before and wonder what its like at this time of year. planning on going in from clements mill road. Questions are, does the track cross the river and is it a hard one to cross. What are the deer numbers like, is the old sit and wait tactic good for sika or better to quietly stalk the bush.
    Cheers,
    TonyR
