    Checking in

    Hey all

I'm a novice hunter who loves to get into the bush with his mates and learning from more experienced hunters.
I'm currently lugging around a Winchester Model 70 in 270, but I've been thinking of joining the 26 or 28 gang...

I came here originally to look at the Buy/Sell, but I've already learnt a heap from the rest of the forum.

    Cheers!

Welcome along mate. Nothing wrong with a M70 in 270win but if it's a pre 64 then I would highly recommend you move it along and go buy a 26 or 28 cal rifle, I'll take it off your hands, will even give you some money for it

    10! has 270 divisors
270 is the smallest positive integer that has divisors ending by digits 1, 2, …, 9.

If you can shoot the .270 well and it's not causing you to flinch at all I'd stick with it for a while longer. The mighty .270 is the greatest caliber ever made and probably has one of the highest kill tallies on deer in NZ history.

Sadly it's not a pre-64 but a Black Shadow model.

If I'm honest I probably have developed a bit of a flinch which isn't helping accuracy when sighting in. Without getting into too long a story, the old hot glue gun bedding failed so we stiffened the stock fore-end then bedded the action and free floated the barrel but it hasn't had the improvement I wanted.

I did buy a suppressor for it to help with the recoil too, but noticed the muzzle has pitting which I suspect is from a previous owner. All that has given me a bit a wondeing eye...

    Welcome.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Hahaha @mimms2 just saw this, I may live in South Canterbury but I'm not from Waimate. Originally from the north island too.

    Hi Guy's,

    I'm relatively new to hunting.
I completed the Hunts course with the NZDA last year and have been out a few times with the guys from my Hunts course.
Based in Auckland but most of the Hunts I have been on have been down Whanganui way's.

Keen to do allot more and am planning to do a solo hunt in the nearish future.
I have a Tiki 308 which seems to do the job.
So far gotten a couple of goats and a deer.....all of which I have eaten!
Looking forward to getting advise and tip for the folk on this site.
