Thanks for the welcome Gents
@muzza - With apologies for photo-bombing the intro thread - Couple more rimfires coming up for you here. I'll have to contribute to the 'Walnut and blued steel' thread when things quieten down here at novembersierra acres.
The pic up above is a Stevens Favorite 1915 model which was in production until 1935. Sporting Lyman sights fore and aft, it looks every part of the boyhood buffalo hunter's dream.
Down below, the FN Belgium Browning SA22 is from 1969 and wears the typical blonde French walnut of its type. The grooved receiver will get a Leupold FX-1 Rimfire 4x28 in tip off rings at some indeterminate time in the future. I also have a Norinco 22ATD, a clone of the FN. With a Picatinny rail and Leupold it shoots great but the chin weld could be improved uponHence the desire to go lower with the FN.
The modern day lever action is a Marlin 56. This one dates from the early 60s and has a period Lyman receiver sight. The stock doesn't have quite the aesthetic of the Winchester 88 but the lever has a really short stroke and man does it shoot!
@mimms2 - I was walking across a campsite at Clements Mill with a bottle in my hand when an old fella greeted me with a shout of "Speights!". "Pride of the South" I replied and continued with a spring in my step and a smile on my face. I'm intrigued as to what decides our choice in dog, woman, gun, beer, whatever. I have more 30-30s than is absolutely necessary and I'm not sure if I chose the calibre or if it chose me but I'm not getting rid of any of them any time soon.
I look forward to more banter in the future.
Cheers, Nick
