    GettingThere... slowly

    Hi All

    Thanks for accepting me into the group! Having just returned to NZ after too many years away, I am late to the game-shooting party and eager to learn. Thanks in advance for the advice, wise-words and inevitable piss-takes!

    I am checking the post each day with anticipation that my renewed licence will arrive... and in the meantime I am trying to learn as much as I can and enjoying stalking the Trademe listings...

    As a lefty, the options for secondhand rifles is slightly more limited, though I have been told that the right number of rifles is N+1 (where N = the number I currently own)...

    I have been thinking about your equation;

    So N+1 seems fine, for a single man. I think there may need to be some fine polishing for some other members who have families and so on and so forth.

    Perhaps N+1 (X+3)(Y+8) where X = Wife and Y = Young. Yes this is an example of someone who has had three wives, obviously, they never learn.....

    So N + X.Y+8X+3Y+24 Which is only a slightly more complicated proposition.

    That equation seems entirely more appropriate and equitable to the complication of the purchase of a new firearm

    I was told to use the same equation as the wife does for buying shoes - but that wouldn't work for me as I was blessed with one who hates shopping!

    Welcome. My wife of 38 years is the same, bless her. She did once comment on looking into my gunroom "do those things breed in there"!

    For a lefty a Savage 99 lever action is great. H and F in Napier have a newly rebarrelled 308.

    browning/miroku BLR lever action, it uses a cam activated bolt and a box mag so no issue with pointy projectiles in a tube mag.

    Welcome aboard
    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
