I'm comparatively new to shooting (i'm only 18) so haven't had too much experience with .270 because I don't own one but I have put a few rounds through my mate's .270 which I enjoyed, it gets a 1/2" group at 100yrds which is always satisfying

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

He is Baiting you a wee bit...You will find quite a lot of discussion about 270s and 7mmo8s and the reputations of their owners....A bit like Ford/ Holden arguments then someone pipes up and says they own a Kia.....

I see you are not far from me....The local NZ handloaders on McLeans Island could also be worth joining. It will give you somewhere to practise (and burn through ammo) and they do trap / skeet as well so a lot of fun....
Deer Stalkers has a club and range next door to them and is another good place to look for new shooters.

Either way , welcome and be prepared for a lot of reading...especially if you like humour...(The "Campfire" jokes thread is up to page 1700+)
