    Greetings from a new member

Basic information: Husband, grandfather, Christian, non-PC conservative

Age: Too young to cash in, too old to take a beating

Occupation: College teacher, IT worker (network administrator)

Interests: shooting (almost any legal kind), pro-gun politics

Most of my shooting is done with handguns. I live in a mixed household: I generally shoot semiautomatics, while my wife is strictly a revolver gal. A couple of years ago we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the range (I must admit she outshot me that time).

I've never been to your part of the world, and I hope to learn a lot.

Welcome and enjoy. We are a good bunch of larrikins here.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Gday mate. What kind of game is available for hunting around Ohio?

In your opinion what is the best part of America?

Hi and welcome, dont be shy at contributing your ideas on topics here but be aware that there are a few well meaning stirrers who you should become acquainted with reasonably quickly

Thanks for all the kind words of welcome . . . Concerning the question about hunting in Ohio, the primary game is whitetail deer. Until recently we couldn't use rifles, only slug shotguns and handguns (usually .44 magnum revolvers with long barrels). Recently we are able to use rifles with certain straight-walled cartridges -- they have an official list. The restrictions were imposed years ago when a "hunter" sprayed multiple rounds at a deer and ended up injuring or killing someone (I don't remember which). Same old story -- one knucklehead makes life difficult for the rest of us.

Speaking of knuckleheads, we seem to have our share of them . . . one deer season a carload of them came up our driveway and asked my wife if they could hunt our deer. (I have to give them that -- they did ask permission.) The problem was, they were looking at our GOATS . . . my wife politely declined and sent them on their way.

My son-in-law is an avid squirrel hunter; he put several of them in the freezer in the recent squirrel season.

Varmint hunting mainly involves coyotes -- I hear them nights but haven't yet got a shot at them, they are very crafty -- and (in the southern Ohio counties) feral hogs. On a smaller scale, there are possums, raccoons, and skunks that sometimes become a nuisance.

The best part of America? I'll have to think about that one awhile.

    Happy hunting,

    Zeko
