This is a very good question and I do not have the answer. As responsible firearms license holders there is an onus upon us not to act in a manner that could alarm or be perceived as threatening to members of the public. That said, I participated in a couple of protests against the buy back in Auckland and they were by and large completely ineffective in getting the message of injustice across so I believe there is a need to protest in a manner that grabs greater attention (again I don’t know how). Whilst it grates against every fibre of my make up to promote civil disobedience, doing something more attention grabbing seems to me to be warranted. The challenge is to moderate the action so that is is seen as being a reasonable venting of frustration rather than a bunch of fight wing rednecks nutting off.
