    Hello from BoP

    Hello everyone.

I'm a new hunter living in the Bay of Plenty. Been reading a lot of the content in the forums here for a while so wanted to join.
Have started going along to the local NZDA club nights and looking to get shown the ropes and spend more time behind a gun.
I do a fair bit of tramping but want to focus more on the hunting aspect, so hopefully I can meet some like minded folks. Anyone keen to go for a walk and teach me a thing or two about the art of the bush stalk, give me a DM please. Kaimais would be my 'local' but also happy to head to Whirinaki, Kaimanawas etc.

    Cheers.

Hey Mate, I'm in the same boat but knocked my first proper bush animal in June and passed up on a hind the other day.
Haven't had a poke around in Kaimais yet but whirinaki interests me.
Biggest learning curve for me has been accurate bush navigation, pretty good fun tho!

    Welcome to the forum.
All that I know about bush stalking is go slow, then slow down. Assuming there is some sign around of course

Get in there, start slow and small - choose a patch and learn it, spread out from there as you get more acquainted. That kaimais is easy to get disorientated in dont ask me how I know

Yeah, last time in there I turned around twice due to first reaching a severely obscured drop off on a spur and then encountering copious amounts of what I think is referred to as monkey scrub.

    Welcome aboard.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
