Brian @gadgetman and I have a chat periodically about designing new range of specifically hunter tuned lights. The previous Maxtochs (not the current ones on offer for huge $$) were all tuned to exact kiwi hunter tasks and were the best in the world at it. Likely still are. And we watched EVERY light manufacturer on the planet.

Yes we sat and pencilled some ideas even a month or so ago - and they would be exceptional. A-mazing. BUT - the sole issue is finding a chinese company that is actually ethical. The little sods don't have this concept in their vocabulary.

    so you concur????...duck cough.......

to the OP....why on earth would anyone help you to develop something so you can turn around and shaft us K1W1s some more????
you seem to be wanting something for nothing... pick our brains for financial gain.... if you want to create great torches for hunting, the ground work has already been done.... they were being made and work fantastically...if you really want to be of use, make more of them and on sell them at a reasonable price.....

You build it and we will buy it! I'd quite like a powerfull red light for walking in on sensitive areas just before dawn, have acquired one of your earlier headlamps (H01?) with the bigger red light for that purpose, the midgety reds on my other one (H01r?), not up to it.

What about the poor buggers who crave such creations and shoulder on with Pixie torches. LOL. Walkies next week. Best.

@Micky Duck I understand you sentiment, somewhat. But would you say the same to/about me if I wanted to make a torch and was doing market research? If you would, that's OK, and your free to be a penis. But if you are doing it just because the OP is from a country you don't like (likely thier crap govt) it is deplorable. Let the man make a torch, if he can provide another option to the consumer, then why not encourage him? Competition is good for innovation.

    Thanks Lars

some how I do not think you do realise where Im coming from.......
the guys who designed the magtox torches put lots of time n effort into them and got shafted......
this person is wanting to reinvent the wheel...the work has already been done, the formular is there,I find it rather on the nose (as said in first post) to ask for free advice from the people who were shafted before....... innovation, yeah fair enough, drop the price yeah fair enough...pick brains and make whopping profit from doing so and the brains that were picked get sweet stuff all out of it...not fair enough.

I understand where you are coming from. I have these things called apprentices that do very similar. I believe though as LFO we should be very aware that anything and everything we do can be put in the spotlight in the worst possible way. Imagine what the news could spin up from some comments that could be taken as xenophobic on a forum such as these.

    Thanks Lars

well Im not singing kumbyah and going to bend over for every tom, dick, harry or whatever to shaft me thankyou very much..there is being polite and accomidating...and then there is being foolishly exposed to being exploited.
xenophobic???? who me???? Im a human being.....I belong to the human race.....thats it.human race....no racism here, colourism or tribalism possibly, the colourism bit gets a bit clouded with ancestory like mine....27th generation Xbred K1W1.... I take people as I find them,no matter the colour of the skin or country of origin .

Micky is not wrong here Lars.

I had years of experience dealing with chinese manufacturers and their level of ethical practice is extremely low. This is experience - not mere opinion. They will seek/offer every advantage with New Zealand companies but break agreements the instant it suits. Eventually I set up a strong step by step conditional agreement and offered it to 5-6 leading manufacturers - an agreement which retained product control for my company, but none would accept it. In my field - company and market management - this is all to well known. Not xenophobia - fact unfortunately.

My family members work in major NZ corporates - and those corporates have also had very bad experience with unethical chinese counterparts. Had to sue them in court there - a very difficult and costly process. High risk dealing with any of them.

This present enquiry for torch information from china is likely not well received here because people know they broke production/marketing agreements with a NZ torch company. And they seek ongoing product advantage data while continuing unethical practice with NZ companies. Be aware - and this is a qualified and experienced professional opinion - every NZ marketing manager knows chinese ethical contract problems well.

Best advice - caveat emptor - let the buyer beware. One may have a well understood agreement/contract - but it means as much or as little as they choose. Legal remedies extremely difficult under chinese law, and cost prohibitive for most NZ companies.

I appreciate the context, and I make no excuses for any dishonorable business practices, crappy people do crappy things. And to be fair I never said these things can't/don't happen. My criticism is how individuals deal with individuals in this instance, maybe it's an instance of nuance being lost in text, and likely text as spoken, we all have our own unique vocabulary.

    Thanks Lars
