Thread: Hello, everyone.

Hi all,

I've been lurking around this forum for quite some time now, vacuuming up the vast array of knowledge on offer. As of 6:50pm tonight, I'll be attending the safety course to finally begin my firearms license application, so I figure it's about time I introduced myself.

I'm a 27 year old student paramedic, currently based in both Auckland and the Waikato (I move back and forth as university demands). Although keenly interested in all aspects, my actual hunting experience is pretty limited to popping a few pests on farmland, and bowhunting koi karp. My level of fitness isn't where it should be, and in part I'm looking to hunting to provide motivation to climb up stupidly steep hills and such.

For as long as I can remember I've had a fascination with firearms as mechanical devices, there's something particularly special about the way they click and clack. Naturally, this means I want to own lots of them. I'm particularly interested in firearms with a military heritage.

I look forward to taking a more active part in discussions from now on as I learn and become more involved in hunting and shooting activities.

It took a while for me to figure it out, but I'm pretty sure it's where I belong. Previously I started studying engineering, and then ran away to the UK with a mind to enrolling in a maritime academy. But after 2+ years volunteering with St John, I'm still not sick of the job, which is probably a good sign.

Welcome aboard Solo. Let me set you straight on one thing. A rifle that goes click is of no use to anyone and one that goes clack is just a plain waste of space. Rifles should only make a loud bang.

100% on my safety test, so things are going according to plan so far. And Rushy, you must have some pretty slick actions on your rifles if none of them make a click or clack noise

Rushy used to hear the click or clack noise, but now only the bang or if you say dinner in a booming voice, he may hear that as well

It is all about the noise boys. No sissy silencers only obnoxious loudeners here. Huh what did you say?

I've arranged for my Arms Officer interview to be on Thursday, with both my referees handy to do their part. Absolutely stoked to get it done before Christmas, an AO from another area told me it would be weeks away.
