    Hello, new to Auckland

    Hi there,

I'm 23 yo & from a sheep farm in the South Island but my wife and I have lived in Auckland since early 2012.
I am keen to get back into hunting deer or similar around Auckland rather than waiting for the rare times I get back to the Bay. I have my own rifle, a savage .308, and do have some experience hunting, tramping and carrying heavy loads :-)

If anyone can advise me on day or overnight spots handy to Auckland that would be much appreciated. Im also keen on range time and if anyone needs a hunting pal some day I may be keen. I work split weekends currently but have some flexibility.

Anyway, hope to hear from some of you and perhaps make some new mates!

    Sam

Welcome to the forum Sam. The Kaimais is an easy jaunt from Auckland for a day hunt.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Thanks guys. I will look into getting down to the Kaimais.
My young cousin and I got a small nanny goat and a billy on the farm here yesterday, makes me even keener to get out once we get back home. Thanks again for making me welcome here.

Are you for real?..."no deer in the Kaimai's"...probably holding more animals than a lot of other places.

You should be happy for people to think that Spook. It will help them to graze right up to your kitchen window.
