    Hello from Russia

    Hello guys!
I was born in Russia and basically all my life lived there. It is a huge country with endless forest, tricky swamps, long rivers and lakes. How many hours I spent in our forests, during summer, when it is full of any noises, or during winter, when trees are cracked due to the frost.
Now I am here, in Nelson, studying, want to explore the nature of South hemisphere of the Earth. I hope, it would be quite interesting to go somewhere with at least camera to make some photos. Or, maybe one day I will buy an air rifle (for real rifle I need to complete the licence, but I am not sure, if it is possible for me) to enjoy the small game, hunting rabbits and hares

Welcome. There should be a few clubs up there to get you started. There will be some like minded peole who can set ou on your way. Deerstalkers has a presence in Nelson and Tramping clubs could be somewhere to start if hunting is not really an option at the moment. For Tramping itself, have a word to your local DoC office. There are some really nice walks etc up there.

    Welcome to the Forum.
Yep, there are plenty of good tramping tracks in the Nelson region.
Some good historical tracks as well as others offering great scenery.

Starting point for some ideas. Never go out under prepared.

You can get firearms license easily - just give police a couple of your Facebook friends as referees and say you're a personal trainer.

Anyway, dry humor aside, even without a firearms license you can hunt with bow or crossbow! And air rifles are useful for rabbits and possums as long as you are good at placing your shots. As suggested above, join up with the local NZ Deerstalkers club.
